DENIED is a Dark comedy short produced by SAE Dubai. Tells the story of Arthur, a depressed but functional alcoholic who makes an attempt on his life but is interrupted by Athena, a supernatural being claiming to be a Suicide Logistics Officer.

We plan on sending this short production to several international film festivals and are also having a Dubai screening during the Fall. Such as Berkeley Film Festival, Sundance and more.

You will be compensated for your work with us and Food and Transportation will also be provided.

SHOOTING DATES: AUGUST 9TH TO AUGUST 12TH, 2018

Mr.s Davies, 62, is a quiet but loving individual. Putting others first, she is always there to lend a hand to anyone in need of one. Her love for her son runs deep in her soul and always will. Mrs. Davies was an extremely proud mother and always enjoyed seen young Arthur excel in any way. She was a very supportive and helpful mother. Arthur’s current state tears her to pieces emotionally. However, she has tried to help in the past but Arthur has simply pushed her away.

SABRINA - Supporting Cast - English Speaker

Sabrina, 31, spent her 20’s as a typical party girl. Her relationship with Arthur was created via a shared love of alcohol and partying. As her relationship with Arthur progressed, however, she found herself looking for more in life then a drink and a good party. While she does love Arthur, they simply wanted different things, driving a wedge between them.

ATHENA - Supporting Character - Fluent in English

Athena, age 420, has been working as a suicide logistics officer for the underworld since her 223rd birthday. She takes her job very seriously and finds herself constantly baffled by human beings’ non understanding of suicidal prerequisites. At the end of the day, Athena simply wants to do her job, feel pride in doing so, and make it home to bed at a reasonable time every night. Arthur is just another client to Athena and she finds herself determined to not let anyone slip through the cracks.

ARTHUR - Main Protagonist - Fluent in English

Arthur, 28, suffers from depression and anxiety which he combats with his functional alcoholism. His relationship with his girlfriend, Sabrina has been falling to tatters slowly over the past year or so. His dependance on the liquid crutch, however, only serves to exacerbate his depression and suicidal thoughts. While he wants to end his existential suffering Arthur has not, as of yet, been able to muster up the courage to pull the trigger, so to speak.
